On February 12, Ridgefield School District officials recognized the February 2024 Employee and Students of the Month at the regular Board of Directors meeting. Congratulations to all of this month’s honorees!
Employee of the Month Michelle Lindbo, Paraeducator at Union Ridge Elementary School
Michelle Lindbo is an amazing paraprofessional and so worthy of being recognized as Ridgefield School District’s Employee of the Month. Michelle's greatest strength is her ability to build strong relationships and connections with students, as it contributes significantly to a positive and supportive learning environment. Her passion for meeting students where they are and helping them grow from that point highlights a student-centered approach, showing that she values each individual's journey and development. Additionally, the fact that Michelle has deep roots in the community and is actively involved in Cispus demonstrates her commitment to the well-being and success of Ridgefield students. Being a team player, having a positive attitude, and seeking to understand others are crucial qualities in any work environment, but especially in a school setting. Michelle's humility and desire for personal and professional growth further contribute to her effectiveness as a paraeducator and team member. Michelle’s dedication and positive impact are making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and we are grateful to have her on the Union Ridge team!
Olivia Snoderly, Preschool at the Early Learning Center
With a joy of learning, enthusiasm for exploring the wonders of the world around her, and being a dedicated friend, Olivia consistently demonstrates what it means to be an Early Learning Center Tater Tot. Her warm and friendly demeanor creates a welcoming environment in the classroom for her peers. Beyond her academics, Olivia is a shining example of kindness and empathy. Her teachers say "Olivia is always kind to others and always ready to learn. She shows her classmates how to share and has so much patience for them. She is a big helper in class and is always smiling." Olivia is always ready to lend a helping hand and share a smile. She is an extraordinary role model, and we are proud to celebrate her as our preschooler of the month!
Connor Abston, Kindergarten at South Ridge Elementary School
Connor is compassionate, respectful, and trustworthy. He is so joyful and is always eager to cheer up a friend and lend a helping hand. He is polite and kind to all students and adults at school. Connor shows resilience daily inside and outside of the classroom, is always up for a challenge, and never gives up! Connor has been recognized by many staff members for his positive behavior at school. His positivity and kindness are contagious!
Rex Manning, 1st Grade at Union Ridge Elementary School
Rex is a wonderful member of his classroom and school community. He consistently demonstrates a growth mindset and challenges himself to reach new heights. He approaches his work with his best effort, always giving it his all. Rex is not only a great classroom leader, but is also a helpful classmate who is always willing to lend a hand. He loves school and arrives prepared and eager to learn each day. Rex has a natural curiosity and often thinks outside the box. He makes valuable contributions and connections while sharing his thoughts during class discussions.
Sebastian Bermudez, 6th Grade at Sunset Ridge Intermediate School
Sebastian Bermudez is one of a kind. He is funny, creative, thoughtful, and respectful. He works so hard and takes pride in doing his best. Even when things are difficult, he perseveres and shows his resilience, consistently. Sebastian is very masterful in taking what he has learned and applying it to new learning. This year in particular has been a great year for Sebastian. His self confidence has grown tremendously, which has produced exponential academic growth. Way to go Sebastian! He is also a great friend to many, and his smile and laughter are infectious. I think everyone would agree, he has the best laugh in class! We are so proud of you Sebastian!
Angel Euyoque, 8th Grade at View Ridge Middle School
All of Angel’s teachers agree that he is a wonderful student who comes to school prepared to learn. He always has a positive attitude and is sweet and kind to everyone. Mrs. Hankins, his art teacher, had this to say: “Angel is a wonderful art student! His creativity and hard work really shine in class. He is open and willing to try any art medium and truly enjoys creating. I have had the pleasure of having Angel for both his 7th and 8th grade years at View Ridge. I have seen so much growth in confidence, talent, and soul. Keep up the great work, Angel!” Another of Angel’s teachers, Mr. Tena stated that “He gets excited when he gets answers correctly but is not afraid of a challenge. Angel also helps other students with their math work by modeling the answer, and he has a great sense of humor!” STEM teacher Mr. Hankins said “He comes up with really unique and creative ideas that make his projects stand out. Plus, Angel is a terrific listener.” Mrs. Johnson, another of Angel’s teachers, shared “Angel is a student who enjoys school and is always working hard on his academics and has a positive attitude.” Congratulations, Angel, we are very proud of you!
Jonathan Kline, 8th Grade at Wisdom Ridge Academy
Jonathan has been a straight-A student for three semesters in a row. Teacher Mrs. Robblee says of Jonathan, “His written work is thoughtful, engaging, funny, and very persuasive. His math work is astounding and he is so much fun to be around. Jonathan is a key player at Wisdom Ridge!” Jonathan and his other family members chose WRA because it was the best fit for him and his family due to the flexibility of the curriculum. Jonathan enjoys coming into WRA regularly, almost always wearing his pressed slacks and dress shirt along with a nice tie, and is thankful for the friendly and helpful staff at Wisdom Ridge. When asked what his greatest achievement has been, Jonathan said, “this” referring to his selection as student of the month. He is also proud that he has developed the discipline to consistently keep his grades up and stay ahead of his assignment due dates. After high school, Jonathan wants to “contribute to our wonderful nation” by going to a university to study analytics and business. Jonathan is representative of many of our outstanding Owls at Wisdom Ridge, and we are proud to have him represent our student body as the February Student of the Month.
Julian Aguilar-Mendoza, 12th Grade at Ridgefield High School
While Julian has only been a Spudder for five months, he’s made quite an impact in that short period of time. The common theme that teachers and staff at RHS shared about Julian is that he embodies the three R’s: respectful, responsible and resilient. While some may see moving to a new school their senior year as a challenge, it’s quite the opposite for Julian. He realized the extra effort and work that would be required to succeed at RHS and has met that challenge head on and then some. Julian is driven and persistent, diligent and responsible. He shows determination and regularly seeks additional help when he needs it. He has integrated himself into the RHS community with his outgoing personality and respect for all. Mrs. Hoodenpyl shared that “Julian was the first senior to complete his High School and Beyond plan. Additionally, he has asked for guidance in job interview skills and is determined to continually be the best he can be by asking for help to achieve his goals.” Another teacher added, “Julian does a great job of advocating for, engaging with, and helping his peers. He goes above and beyond and challenges himself daily. He is a great example for other students and makes our class better because of these traits.” When asked who his role model is, Julian didn’t hesitate to say his dad, for his ability to face challenges head-on, and his ability to push through hard times. Julian also mentioned a couple teachers that have influenced him this year: Mr. Shipp, for helping him plan for the future, and Mr. Trujillo, for never letting students settle for less than they are capable of. After graduation, Julian intends to pursue an apprenticeship program in hopes of becoming a lineman. Wherever Julian lands after graduation, we hope he looks back fondly on his short time at Ridgefield High School and understands the great impact he can have on those he comes in contact with.
