Staff, parents, guardians, and community members are invited to take a survey concerning how the Ridgefield School District utilizes Title II, Part A program funds.
The Title II, Part A program is designed, among other things, to provide students from low-income families, students of color, and other students who have been disenfranchised by the education system with greater access to effective educators. In addition, the purpose of Title II, Part A is to increase the academic achievement of all students by helping Local Educational Agencies (school districts) improve teacher and principal quality. This includes teacher preparation and qualifications of new teachers, recruitment and hiring, induction, professional development, and retention. In addition, Title II, Part A funds may be used to improve the skills and knowledge of principals for effective school leadership.
The purpose of Title II, Part A funding is to:
Increase student achievement consistent with Washington State academic standards,
Improve the quality and effectiveness* of teachers, principals, and other school leaders,
Increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools, and
Provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective* teachers, principals, and other school leaders.
*Effectiveness is measured by holding a National Board Teaching Certificate or holding a valid regular (not limited) teaching certificate and teaching in the area of endorsement.
Current Use of Funds
Currently, Title II funds are prioritized for our induction program to support our newest/least experienced staff. All new staff are required to participate in the four-day induction process. Topics covered during induction include District Goals, Code of Conduct, Foundational Instructional Elements, Data, Inclusionary Practices, SEL, Equity, Speak Up At School, Danielson Framework (teacher evaluation), and Technology.
We are inviting all district employees, parents, guardians, and community members to provide feedback about how the Ridgefield School District is utilizing Title II, Part A funds and to offer suggestions for improvements. The survey is available here and will be collecting responses from now through noon on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the improvement of Title II activities aimed at enhancing educator quality and effectiveness. Please provide your honest opinions and suggestions to help us better meet the objective of Title II.
