Ridgefield School District is pleased to welcome several new leaders to its administrative team for the 2025-26 school year. These dedicated professionals bring a wide range of experience and expertise, and each shares a strong commitment to student success and educational excellence.
“We were impressed by both the quality and the number of applicants who expressed interest in these roles,” said Superintendent Dr. Jenny Rodriquez. “It’s a testament to the strength of our school community and our shared vision for the future. I’m confident that these new administrators will help lead us forward with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to Ridgefield’s students and families.”
Dr. Charlotte Ellis – Executive Director of Schools & Leadership
Dr. Charlotte Ellis is a dedicated and equity-driven educational leader with over two decades of experience in education. She has held numerous leadership roles, including Director of Teaching and Learning and Executive Director of School Leadership, and is currently serving as the Acting Principal at St. Helens High School. In her most recent position, she played a key role in stabilizing leadership, amplifying student voices, and rebuilding trust within the school community.
Dr. Ellis brings a strong background in instructional leadership, curriculum alignment, and professional learning communities—work that has led to meaningful systemic improvements and enhanced student outcomes. She holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership for Learning from the University of Washington and is actively involved in professional organizations such as AWSP and Oregon ASCD.
“I am thrilled to serve the students, staff, and community of Ridgefield and look forward to contributing to the strong tradition of educational excellence,” Dr. Ellis said. “With a focus on student-centered leadership, data-driven decision-making, and innovative problem-solving, I’m dedicated to fostering equitable and effective learning environments that prepare students for success in an ever-evolving world.”
Curt McConnell – Director of Special Education Services
Curt McConnell’s career in education was inspired by an internship at an aquatic center while attending Western Washington University, where he discovered a passion for working with individuals with disabilities. That experience led him to pursue a teaching credential and a career in special education.
McConnell has taught special education across a wide age range—from early childhood to age 21—with a particular focus on life skills instruction. He later transitioned into administration, serving as an elementary assistant principal and, most recently, as the elementary principal at Mossyrock School District. His leadership is rooted in collaboration and a deep commitment to supporting all learners.
“I am extremely grateful for this new opportunity and enjoyed hearing from staff and the community about what they are looking for within special education,” McConnell said. “I look forward to being part of Ridgefield's success and getting started in the work with everyone. I am excited to see what the future holds in Ridgefield!”
Jamie Heim – Assistant Director of Special Education Services & Early Learning
Jamie Heim brings extensive experience across PreK–12+ special education settings, including seven years of dedicated service within Ridgefield School District. A National Board Certified Teacher, Heim has worked as an Autism Specialist, elementary and secondary special education teacher, and as a Teacher on Special Assignment supporting Highly Capable and Special Education programs.
In her new role, Heim will serve as the administrator of the Ridgefield Early Learning Center while also supporting Special Education across the district. She is passionate about creating inclusive, equitable learning environments for all students and ensuring special education teachers and support staff receive the professional learning and support they need to thrive.
“I am looking forward to stepping into my new role as the Assistant Director of Special Education and Early Learning,” Heim said. “I am especially excited to focus on our district's youngest learners and to work in partnership with staff, families, and the community to uphold the center’s commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child’s potential is recognized and supported from the very beginning.”
