HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To receive a diploma from the Ridgefield School District, students must successfully complete the following requirements:
HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND PLAN
The High School and Beyond Plan is required for graduation. It is developed throughout high school with extensive focus on the senior year. Counselors provide guidance and technical assistance to students, parents, teachers, and administrators in this process. learn more
STATE TESTING
Successful completion of state testing requirements in the areas of English Language Arts, Science and Math.
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
The Class of 2022 and beyond are required to earn 24 credits. Each semester course is worth 0.5 credits.
Students take six classes for a total of 3 credits each semester. Students may be required to take additional classes based on their state assessment scores.
ENGLISH – 4 credits
9th Grade English (1 year) 10th Grade English (1 year) 11th Grade English (1 year) 12th Grade English (1 year)
MATHEMATICS – 3 credits
SCIENCE – 3 credits
Physical Science (1 year) Biology (1 year)
Elective Science (1 year)
HEALTH AND FITNESS – 2 credits
Health (1 semester)
Physical Education (3 semesters)
SOCIAL STUDIES – 3 credits
10th Grade: World History/AP Human Geography/AP World History (1 year) 11th Grade: U.S. History/AP U.S. History (1 year)
12th Grade: Contemporary World Issues (1 year)
Washington State History required
CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION – 1 credit
FINE ARTS – 2 credits required starting with the class of 2021*
WORLD LANGUAGE – 2 credits required starting with the class of 2021* ELECTIVES – 4 credits
