Students learning to use a compass at Cispus Outdoor School

We are excited to share that preparations are well underway for our 5th graders at Sunset Ridge Intermediate School to attend Cispus Outdoor School – a beloved Ridgefield tradition that has been enriching students' lives for over 50 years!

Each October since 1969, the Ridgefield School District has taken its entire fifth grade class to the Cispus Learning Center in Randle, Wash. for a week of hands-on learning out in nature. At Outdoor School, supervised groups of students explore the campgrounds, trails, and forest, learning about the ecosystems, resources, and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. This experience is one of the highlights of their educational journey, creating memories and fostering skills that last a lifetime.

Cispus Outdoor School offers hands-on learning in nature, promoting teamwork, resilience, and a deeper connection to the environment. It is a treasured part of the Ridgefield 5th-grade tradition, and we want to ensure that every child has the chance to build these lasting memories.

Donations are currently being accepted to help cover the costs for students who may not otherwise be able to attend. Your generosity can make a direct impact on a child’s ability to join in on this unforgettable experience.

If you would like to contribute, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. To donate, please follow these steps:
